Not only did the quality of the work he received improve dramatically, but the company's decision cycle dramatically shortened. It is easy to be immobilized by the fear of failure. It is hard to think strategically about capitalizing on the future when an employee is concerned with the consequence of the past. Concern about potential disapproval chills action.
